8th April 2010

This morning was more promising, not strong winds, but enough for us to try again with the small kite.

By late morning, Ed was able to control the kite, making it fly where he wanted and also to hold it on one point.

I however was a different matter. Just as I seemed to be getting it, something would happen and I’d do the wrong thing to correct it meaning a lot of ground time for the kite!

Because we’d lost two days with no wind, and because I was keen to get in the water and aware we now only had today and tomorrow I was getting stressed about mastering the kite. A big problem when you need to relax to feel what the kite is doing.

Also, Ed will tell you, I loath sand - it sticks to everything and gets everywhere. So actually rolling around in it on the beach was starting to get to me. I just wasn’t really enjoying this experience.

So, after some lunch and some soul searching, I decided to call it a day. Not forever, it’s definately something I still want to learn. But someday when I have more time to master it. There are classes back in the UK and I wouldn’t need to learn the very small kite again, I could simply go forward.

Ed however was now ready to progress to the water. His new instructor arrived by kitesurf, pulling up to the edge of the beach in style.

They managed to get about half an hour in the water before the wind dropped again, so called it a day.

Since we had actually done some work today, we treated ourselves to a back massage at our friendly massage parlour.
