Anna and Sofia kindly dropped us at the airport this morning so we could catch our 9.30am flight to Singapore. We were really looking forward to this next part of our trip into Asia, somewhere where neither of us had visited before.

The flight with Singapore Airlines was excellent and the service far superior to anyone else we had flown with. The food was lovely and Ed actually ate all his airline meal for the first time ever!

It was 34 degrees with about 90% humidity on our arrival in Singapore. Very very steamy. From the airport we used the MRT to get into the city which was very easy and very cheap. The trains and stations were spotless, with not a spot of graffiti anywhere.

The hotel we’re staying at is up a very steep flight of stairs which were quite difficult to negotiate in the heat with our backpacks on, but is very nice with free breakfast included.

We quickly changed into some cooler footwear and went out for an explore. It took Ed approximately 2 hours of being in the city to find the famous Sim Lim Square - a shopping centre full of electronic gadgetery of every kind. His kind of heaven!

We’re staying in an area which has a lot of colleges so is quite studenty. There are plenty of malls not far away, one of which is a 24 hour food hall where we got some delicious rice and vegetables for about £2. Bargain!
