1st January 2010
A late start this morning, after not getting to bed until the early hours. Our first stop was a cafe not far from the hotel for a cooked breakfast, then the hunt began to find an internet cafe so we could Skype our friends at Neil and Yvonne’s who were just getting to New Year. It didn’t take long to find a cafe and we managed to get to speak to everyone shortly after it had ticked over to midnight for them. They seemed to be having a great night and it only took 3 attempts to get the Skype call going! It was great to be able to see everyone and have a chat, and especially amusing to see just how drunk they all were - more on that later…
After saying our goodbyes to them all, we made our way down to Darling Harbour. It was still fairly quiet about, with the restaurants and cafes just starting to pick up with the lunch time trade. A lot of the boats we had seen parading round the harbour last night were moored up here.

Next, we walked to Central Station to buy our train tickets to get to Brisbane on Tuesday.
Whilst making our way back to the hotel, we just happened to go past a pub which had a monument above the door of the Three Wise Monkeys. This was an amusing coincidence, as whilst on the Skype call to the drunkards earlier, Steve, Dave and Neil had performed the exact same pose. Can you see any differences? :)

Our final stop of the day was at Wagamamas for a delicous early tea. A fairly quiet day all in all, perhaps not unsurprising after the last couple of busy days.
