The campervan is due back in Christchurch on Friday, but since we’ve kind of finished with the whole camping thing, we’ve booked into a hotel for Thursday night as a bit of a treat.
Thursday therefore is spent heading north on New Zealand’s version of the M1 - a one lane highway all the way up the east coast punctuated with ‘blink and you miss it’ towns.
We got to Christchurch and into our hotel for about 4 o’clock and relaxed for the afternoon. Thursday evening we headed out to a Greek restaurant that we spotted last time we were here for a lovely meal. Lamb kleftiko for Claire and souvlaki for Ed - delicious!
Friday was very much what I like to call one of our ‘admin’ days. Washing followed by packing up the van, checking into hostel, shopping and returning the van.
Before dinner and settling in for the night, we took a quick walk out from the hostel along by the Avon. Tomorrow, we explore Christchurch proper.
