Temperatures in the 90s and a cloudless blue sky - a perfect day for riding roller coasters at Six Flags Magic Mountain.

We started with X2, not really knowing what to expect. Wow! Intense! We seemed to have started with the most radical one, you start lying on your back with your feet in the air and gradually move to a sitting position as you climb up to the first drop, which you go over head first! Definitely really scary.

Then onto a more traditional type of rollercoaster - Viper. In cars of 4 people, this one performed no less than 7 loops on its trip.
Next we were in for a complete (and I mean complete) soaking on one of the water rides. Both of us had combats that were wet right through, but it was nice in the heat and kept us a bit cooler while we queued for the next ride.
Terminator was next, this was only opened this year and is built entirely of wood, no loops this time, but incredibly fast. Awesome!

Tatsu is the world’s tallest, fastest and longest rollercoaster, so of course we *had* to have a go! We had to queue for about 40 minutes, but wow! definately worth it, really cool ride.
A short break for a snack for lunch, then onto the world’s first loop rollercoaster, Revolution.
More water rides followed to help us cool down, then we headed over to Goliath, a massive rollercoaster (as the name suggests) with a 255 foot first drop which heads into a tunnel, before looping all over the place and going into a helix spiral where the extreme positive G forces caused our eyes to start blacking. Cool! We were a little wobbly coming off this one. Impressive.

The final ride of the day was Batman, where we had to queue for quite a while in a hot, tin corridor where the air-conditioning was off (in this heat - please!?!). The ride was a bit like Nemesis at Alton Towers, but imho probably not worth the wait.

By this point, we were a bit coastered out, so we headed for home. Definitely an awesome day. This is a cool park, but you have to love rollercoasters, it’s not really a theme park as you would expect from Disney or Universal. There is a small area for kids which features cartoon characters walking about and a few theatres, and they are currently all decked out for Halloween, but it really is all about the coasters. A day full of thrills and excitement.
