It’s been a manic couple of weeks. On 4th August, after starting treatment in January, I finally got my new teeth. At the same time, we had a visit from Teresa and Richard so had been out and about doing ‘stuff’ in amongst them helping us to pack up the flat and set up some new bedroom furniture because it had been rented.
At the end of the week, taking a break from the frantic packing and cleaning that was going on we bought our tickets. D-Day is now set in stone for 4th September where we fly to New York , our first destination. So now homeless, we packed up the remainder of our stuff and set off for Welsh (and often Wet) West Wales where I was going to stay for a week with my Dad while Ed stays in Thatcham.
Its been a relaxing week - just one piece of work to finish off while I was here, which meant working the mornings, but being able to continue with the planning during the afternoons, in between visits to the (very flash) gym and Cardiff with Sara to get some more jabs and a check up of my teeth (all fine). Its been great catching up with Dad and Fay and spending more time (in the pm) with Sara! The week topped off with a meal at a local restaurant, Valens which is one of west Wales hidden gems - a beautiful, quiet restaurant in Llandybie, nicely laid out without being overcrowed with tables serving local produce. A delicious meal of duck, lamb then the essential and divine melting chocolate souffle with home made ice cream - yum yum.
Meanwhile, Ed’s been out and about in Thatcham visiting people and generally having quite a few drinks by the sound of it!
We’ve booked our accommodation for New York and Sydney and New Zealand for New Year and Christmas, now we have to focus on getting our visas in order before we go. I’m dreading waiting for ages to get into the US, but hey ho, if that’s what it takes.
Very few pictures of the last few weeks, but we did spend a wonderful (and rare sunny) morning in Dyffryn Gardens just outside Cardiff while Teresa and Richard were staying:

And the house itself…

This was a brief respite of peace in perhaps one of our busiest weeks this year, its been great though, getting the flat rented, getting our tickets, getting our rucksacks sorted - now we just need to pack and go!
