We’ve now got our flights booked and the current itinerary is as follows:
4th September 2009 - 8th September 2009 New York We arrive in New York on the afternoon of 4th September and stay for 4 nights before catching an overnight bus to Toronto.
9th September 2009 - 13th September 2009 Toronto We’ve got 5 days in Toronto during which we’ll take a day drip down to Niagara Falls. On the last day, Sunday 13th, we’re getting the overnight bus down to Chicago.
14th September 2009 - 19th September 2009 Chicago We’re in Chicago for 5 days before flying across to Los Angeles on Saturday 19th September. We get in to LAX quite late on the Saturday afternoon, so we’ve got one night’s accomodation booked at an airport hotel, so we can pick up the hire car on the Sunday and head off out.
20th September 2009 -17th September 2009 LA and beyond We’re hiring a car for four weeks to visit Vegas, Hoover Dam, Grand Canyon, Yosemite Park and San Francisco, before heading back to Los Angeles.
18th October 2009 Fly from LA to the Cook Islands for one week holiday.
25th October 2009 Fly from the Cook Islands to Auckland in New Zealand. We’ll spend one month on the North Island before heading to the South Island where we’ll have a camper van for one month before heading to Half Moon Cottage for Christmas.
30th December 2009 Flight from Christchurch to Sydney where we’ve got 3 nights at the Hilton over New Year before moving on to more humble accomodation for 5 nights at the Alfred Park Budget Accomodation.
The next 4 months will be spent travelling around Oz (plans still TBA) before…
8th March 2010 Fly from Brisbane to Singapore, where we’ll make our way overland up through Malaysia to Thailand, then on into Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam before ending up on Hong Kong. From here it will be a train to Shanghai where we’ll catch a boat over to Osaka for a couple of weeks in Japan. It’s then back to Shanghai, then onto Beijing before returning to Shangai to…

UPDATE So plans are made to broken, and we never did get to Shanghai or Japan this trip. Not to worry though, they can always be done as individual trips in the future.
